Nominator's rationale: 'Mechanics (trade)' states that "people who practice the trade of mechanic" should be placed there, making 'mechanics (people)' redundant. Krisgabwoosh (talk) 21:09, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Eponymous category for a film director without the volume of spinoff content needed to warrant an eponymous category. The only things here are his biographical article and his Films directed by category; I've also already removed, on WP:PERFCAT grounds, two articles about films in which he merely had minor supporting acting roles -- but as films are not catted for actors who appeared in them, that isn't grounds for a category at all. We would need more than this to warrant an eponymous category here, such as notable books about him, notable documentary or biographical films about him, and on and so forth. Nominator's rationale: Procedural nomination, after this was tagged by Rynb99 (talk · contribs) without starting a discussion. The edit summary states '"Contemporary issues" is too squishy of a category, and it only had 1 page.' I have added the member page to Category:21st century in the United States, so it does not need to be merged to the parent Category:Contemporary history. – Fayenatic London 15:19, 16 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: split, mayor of a city and chair of a district council are two different offices. Or, if there is always a personal union between the two offices, the category can simply be renamed to Category:Mayors of Greymouth. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:54, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Grutness and Schwede66: pinging contributors to related discussion on yesterday's log page. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:00, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hmmm. This is a tricky one. The former borough of Greymouth and Grey County amalgamated into Grey District in the 1980s. These mayors are likely all historically considered as Mayors of Grey District. I'd say rename to that (Category:Mayors of Grey District), as the current name is definitely wrong. If there are enough for the two previous entities separately, they could be split out - though I note much of the current content is redirects. Grutness...wha? 12:52, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The category contains an explanation of its scope. Three different offices are captured. Firstly, the current role of mayor and that is for the district of Grey. Most people would readily see Grey as being synonymous with Greymouth. Secondly, the mayors of the former borough of Greymouth. The name of the entity was Borough of Greymouth. Thirdly, the county council adjacent to the borough. The chairpersons of Grey County Council are the odd ones out. Counties didn’t have mayors but a chairperson. If we want to exclude anyone, it should be those. If we do, we probably don’t need its own category but they could go into the generic parent category for county chairs. Marcocapelle, please note that there’s no such thing as chair of a district; the head of a district is always a mayor. Schwede66 16:00, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. The name Category:Mayors of Grey and the article name Mayor of Grey seem odd to me. I'm inclined to Mayor of Grey District and Category:Mayors of Grey District. As to splitting – the present conglomeration is a fudge, but I'm not bothered about that (I may change my mind in 5 minutes), so I'm neutral, at the moment anyway. (As an aside – I can't help thinking about the old Grey Mare.) Nurg (talk) 01:36, 10 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Duplicate title of Category:Big Bang (South Korean band) album covers and holds images from Bigbang (Norwegian band). Likely made by accident and not noticed for a few years. Anarchyte (talk) 06:59, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This can go to WP:CFD/S. It's just a spelling error. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 07:07, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
